Along with Steve Harris, Dave is the longest going Maiden member. He was also brought up in a rough area of West Ham. His father was disabled and his mother earned very little for the family as a part-time cleaner. He has not written as many songs as the others, but the ones he has written have been well remembered. He wrote the classic Charlotte The Harlot from the first album and has recently joined in with the others in writing the grand finale to the Brave New World album, The Thin Line Between Love And Hate. He has also contributed to such greats as Twilight Zone, Virus and Sanctuary. He is considered, by many, the greatest guitarist Maiden has seen.
